Hi everybody,
I have a RHL7.1 machine with squid running on it. There are a
number of client machines running windows on them.I connect to the
internet using a ISDN dial-up modem. The machine name of the Linux
server is 'linux1' and the domain name is 'mshome.com' with ip
address 192.168.0.1 and ISP's nameservers addresses 61.0.128.65
and 61.0.0.5
I tried to set up DNS, but was unsuccessful even after consulting
some DNS howto's that i got in the net. I want to know whether it
is because I must have a unique domain name on the net(since i
think mshome.com already exits).I checked my /etc/resolv.conf and
found the entries of my ISP's nameserver there.I configured dns
using bindconf(graphical).I didn't manually edited the forward and
reverse zone files as they were generated by bindconf.
In the /var/named.conf file i added one forwarder entry, under
options header, giving my ISP's nameserver's ip addresses.
At last when i tested using host command or whois command, then i
get a different ip address for mshome.com.
Please help me out.
Thanks in advance,
Debasish Goswami.
