Octave is included on RH 7.3. Also there is scilab, which has simulink type 
feature. Where as octave is very close to matlab programming language, scilab 
is slightly different (it has its root in a very old matlab version). Octave 
does not have interactive graphics, scilab does. scilab is free to download 
from Inria site.
