Since when? I was under impression that linux kernel is licensed under GPL but 
Linus don't exactly tend to call it GNU/Linux or it hasn't yet garnered 
blessings from Saint RMS.

I think dropping GNU from there is justifiable upto an extent but not 
entirely..
