Thank you for the link. It was an eye-opener. The last time I'd checked about packet writing capability for cd-writers in linux was sometime during the early 2.2 kernels, and it just wasn't working then.
Its nice to know the link was of use to you, like
it was, for me. Mine is LG GCE-8320B CD-RW, and
working fine.
