Okay, some RTCF was done :). I changed the above to this and I can now
send and recieve local mail:

----------------------
myorigin = $myhostname
----------------------

The problem now is that this works correctly for mail sent using mutt but
not from pine. Mails sent to a local user using pine end up in the
mailqueue as being addressed to [EMAIL PROTECTED] On specifying
local_user as the recipient in the compose menu of pine, the name is
automatically expanded to [EMAIL PROTECTED] If I unset the domain
name from the setup of pine, mails are queued as
[EMAIL PROTECTED] to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Frankly this pine problem is not very pressing as I personally use mutt
but I'd just like to know how I can fix this as linux newbies tend to find
pine a far easier beast to use than mutt. I've got two friends I am trying
to get to use linux and both prefer pine.
