i didn't get it, but $mydestination is set as the following
mydestination = gallop,localhost,foo.net
where gallop is the name of my machine and foo.net is the name of my isp
where i pop mails from. Is anything else required in this variable?

Check the mydestination variable - make sure postfix treats your local
hostname (and localhost, localhost.localdomain) as local.
