I have not really used Cygwin so i cant tell for sure. But I have been
able to compile TeX files using MikTeX, use gpg, open Notepad or any
other application installed in windows from the korn shell. I dont know
if we can do it using cygwin....(I may be wrong here :) )
Then I believe some of the utilities in UWin are ported from the UNIX
rather than Linux and so makes them propritery.
