Hello,
I want to know this..
This network is actually being planned.
There is a Fibre optic network as the central backbone. some Users
are connected directly to the network via central switches.
Some of the other clients are not very intensive in terms of
bandwidth usage. So We want to give them a dialup connection to our
central server.
Now the dialup clients can connect to the central network using their
modems and telephone exchange, whenever they want to and disconnect
when done.
BUT, if the central server wants to wake up these clients, is it
possible to do...??
As I understand there should be a way to do it. Maybe some server
daemon needs to be configured and run on the client.
The server will be running on Linux and the clients may be on either
Linux or windows.
So to sum up my Question, is it possible for the server to call or
activate a connection to the client, when the client only connects
the server using a Dialup connection...assuming the client is started
and it's modem is up and running ??.
Are there any special software and Hardware requirements for the
client for this situation..??

Can someone clarify at the earliest possible.
Some links will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Best regards,
Narayana
