Hello,
Is there a way in which I could restrict access to other users on my
machine to all commands other than a few choosen ones like ls, mv,cp
     and so on?
A friend of mine suggested that give access to /usr/bin and /bin
directories only to root. Then copy the necessary commands to
another directory say /my_bin and then give rights to group and
others execute permissions. Finally modify the path to include the
     /my_bin directory.
I have not tried the above method... but is there a simpler way to do
this?

I want to know how to do this in linux like we do in win2k, where you
can give such refined rights to users easily.

thanks
ravi
