I am a subscriber of LFY and did not face any problems like bad CD's.. Initially they had distributed CD's with problem but they had promptly replaced them with a new one... However regarding your second point.. I Agree... Rather than putting different CD based distros it would be useful if they put different linux applications ( latest versions )... and if it is tar.gz files than that much better since people with different distros will be able to make use of the CD.. I am infact now fed up of this CD since every month a CD based distro nothing worthwhile which we can use on our existing linux installation.. Point to be taken into account by LFY guys/gals...
