Is CrossOver Office different from wine? And do we get it in the SuSe

Linux ?

CrossOver is a commercial product based on wine that has been specially tweaked to support M$ Office and some other specific applications. AFAIK, no download version will bundle CX as a single user version costs around 50$ last time i checked.

using vanilla wine i was able to load and run M$-Office 2000, but i could not save any files, on the same setup CX worked fine albeit with some minor irritants. this was a long time back and i would imagine that later releases would be worth the investment if you must work with MS-Office. part of what codeweavers earn from the commercial sale of CrossOver does get channeled into the development of wine.

btw, i just checked and the price of CrossOver Plugin required to run Shockwave director is ~40$.
