Dear Sudev,

the modem baud rate is set to 57600 .No problems there, but as i said earlier,
it locks up occassionally. Let's say , i send this mail and disconnect from
the net. I reconnect after about 30 min to check mail and then i get the
error 'unable to open modem' . i wnat ot create a lock file which tells other
apps that the modem is locked and cannot be used except by kppp . any idea
how i can create this lock file ?

Raghu.
