Which kernel are you using? If you compile your kernels, you need to enable
bttv support and re-compile.
If you use generic kernels, try doing a "modprobe bttv" and check what
happens. Also try running kudzu if you have it.
What is your lspci output regarding the tuner chipset?
Use "tvtime". The best tv software available. Supports everything and I find
it better than xawtv.
You need to read these:
/usr/src/kernel-source-2.6.4/Documentation/video4linux/bttv
(change according to where your kernel sources are located).
If you dont have kernel sources, ask google to give you the bttv howto.
