This is how I got through this problem between Slack and Knoppix: o All users are placed in a common group called "users" having a common gid for both distros. o All new users were/ are created manually using useradd from the command line using the same uid for both distros with the common "users" gid. o All existing uids and gids were manually tinkered to fit the above scheme of things using usermod and grpmod.
