Umm, I don't agree that filenames without spaces are the ``right
thing''. Yes, it's a long-time Unix ``feature'' that spaces are
deprecated in filenames and difficult to handle, but I feel that that
is more a loss to the Unix/Linux community than a feature.

If nothing else, I'll applaud Winduhs for permitting spaces in
filenames, instead of kludges like
Whos_Better,_Whos_Best/11_Magic_Bus.ogg. Of course, it's mostly a
shell limitation now (and bash handles file completion with spaces
pretty well), but I'll be glad if and when it's gone.

GUI file managers handle filenames with whitespace just fine. And on
the other side of the fence, at least Unix/Linux shells can handle
filenames with just about any character at a pinch (including
newlines).

Quick Quiz Question #42: What are the ONLY TWO characters that
absolutely CANNOT be part of a standard Unix file name?

Regards,
