Yes I tried connecting using minicom. And I got the output as follows: // Start of the output Connect 38400 CC User Access Verification Username: <my telephone number was entered> Password: <my password> CC Access denied. Please check your username and password. No Carrier // End of the output But I am sure, my username and password are right because I am able to connect successfully in windows. PS: I did call bsnl's helpdesk to enquire. But I got a vague reply that they don't know if it will work in linux. :( Sandip> Unless, the login is PAP/CHAP I dont think you should be using the Stupid Mode of wvdial. I tried dialing using both "Stupid Mode = 1" and without. But no luck so far. Yes I think it is PAP/CHAP. But I am not sure. Maybe I should get myself a sancharnet prepaid account instead of the postpaid one I am using now. I am keen on using the bsnl dial up access over other packages as bsnl has the best deal. If you browse after 10.00 PM, it is just 1 pulse for every 15 mins for dialing to their internet phone numbers. That is only 4 telephone calls for every hour you browse. Satyam dialup account on the other hand will make a big hole in your pocket both in terms of telephone bills and internet account costs. Each time you dial into their server, they charge Rs 2.00 as service charge from your dial up account. So if you simultaneously log in and log out 200 times say, then you will lose Rs 400.
