The load seems on the high-ish side.

Look through your log files (/var/log/messages, /var/log/daemon.log,
/var/log/syslog) to see if anything is going wrong which causes the
machine to slow down. Also, disable screensaver just to eliminate any
other reasons for the slowdown.
