I am using the latest:

debian:~# alsaconf --help
ALSA configurator
  version 1.0.8

There seems some bug in Kernel higher than 2.6.7-*, so I had to change it
earlier from 2.6.8-2 to 2.4.27-2, other wise behavour of PC was too
random, resulting in extremely slow response; used to take more than one
minute for "ls"; more than an hour to reboot.

Can I do something without changing kernel with some module?
