Hi all !
I have REd hat 6.1. I had mounted my floppy drive for working on a dos disk
using -t vfat. Infact I was inable to copy some files from windows. Windows could not
even see what were its contents. To my amazement I could do it through linux !
However, I was unable to unmount it. I even tried the force option to unmount it. I
read the man pages on mount, unmount.
Finally, I decided to shutdown. While doing so, it said unmounting ....and then did
not proceed at all. After giving it ample time I was forced to switch off the computer.
While rebooting, I got an error, ( sorry I do not remember the exact arror), I
think it was trying to mount my root partition...FAILED

I know It is stupid, but I do not have a boot disk. However, in one small
partition I have linux 5.2 installed, which I do not use, but I can boot into. I did a
fsck on my root and all other partitions used by RH6.1 and those which were not
cleanly mounted, ...check forced.
I then again tried to boot to Red hat 6.1. Now it says mounting /dev/hdc1 [OK]
( which is my root partition) and just does not proceed beyond this point.

Can somebody please help me out ?
Thanks.

B.T.W. I am reasonably new to linux, and dont know much.
