Hi everybody,

While using most of the commands in Linux it is giving response as Unix. The best
example is passwd command to change the password. It responds with

Enter your New *UNIX* password :

When we are using Linux isn't it logical to appear LINUX in place of UNIX ?

During our 4 days workshop one of the persons said to me that some of the sources are
directly taken from UNIX, for which I told him that none of the proprietory O/S
companies have made their sources open, hence what he says is not true.

Can anybody point out why is the above things happening in Linux ?

Thanks in advance.
