After a browse of the code it appeared that io[] and io2[] are pairs
of SIR and FIR basees for IO. I should have seen this straight off,
but I didn't.
What I did was to take findchip.tar.gz from the irda-site and modify
smc.c to have an entry probing for:
{"Mystical SMC chip", {0x3e8, 0x100}, 0x55, 0x55, 0x05}
and it dumped out some incorrect info about the newly discovered chip.
Unless someone can tell me where to find some techincal data on this
chip (Of past experience I'm not expecting Compaq to answer questions
of such things), I'll dig around in the data that findchip digs out
and see if I can make more sense of it tomorrow. If someone can point
me to details of the chip I'll use my machine to get it running :)
