Anything that hooks up to a serial port will work... just like any modem
would with pppd.  The question should be, which serial card will support
the full 128kbps?  Because the stupid 16550 UARTs only go to 115Kbps.  
You'll need a 16650 UART or better to get full speed.  Why are these
16550 things still standard on motherboards?  =sigh=
