I'm talking rubbish again and I misunderstood the complaint. It is not explicitly ignored at all. I was mis-remembering my own patch. You mean that it is not translated by default? I don't see why it should be. I have lots of tunes with the '.' character in them and I don't see any reason why they need changing. The only place where a '.' can cause a problem is at the beginning (making them hidden) and that is explicitly taken care of. Arguably, even this could be made optional.
