One other solution that didn't seem to be mentioned is to use
loadkeys to create a new translation table. Do a man on loadkeys
and dumpkeys for exact procedure. The advantage of this over
the xmodmap idea is this will work in console mode. X is nice
but in a pixel and memory limited enviroment, the console mode
is extermely useful.
