If you can get the XFree86 updates from Red Hat installed from your local
mirror of updates.redhat.com then that would be desireable. This version of
XFree86 contains the Precision Insight NeoMagic driver in the standard SVGA
server so you should not need the special one, as far as I know. This may
not help with the specific problem, however.
To find out what kind of video chipset you have, 'cat /proc/pci' might help.
Other than that, a proper diagnosis probably requires the output from the X
server. Try running 'startx >& logfile' to save all the messages to a file.
