I have tried and tried but I still can't get X to run on my
laptop. I have a Sager 8550 with an ATI Rage PRO LT. Can some one
who has gotten X to run on their system give me some help.
I have an ASUS laptop with ATI Rage Pro LT. I have it working with
Linux 2.2. I specify vga=0x0305 in lilo.conf, and I use XF86_FBDev.
I don't get acceleration this way, but it works, and the performance
is better than I had expected. To get acceleration you have to either
wait for XFree to support this chipset or buy a commercial X server
that already supports it.
Note that this method does not work with Linux 2.0; only 2.2 and up.
I'm referring to kernel versions, of course.
