Hi. I've been doing a lot of research on desktop-replacement class
laptops in the $2000 - $2500 range lately and have eventually narrowed
down my choices to ARM Computers TS3100 or the Sager 6650. I intend to
dual boot Linux with Win98 for games/certain hardware (like DVD) Does
anyone have any experience with Linux on these or similar systems? In
particular I'm interested in video, sound, and DVD support.

* Each system is equipped with the ATI Rage Pro 3D LT chipset; I realize
that 3D acceleration isn't supported in Linux but does XFree86 support it
otherwise for normal 2D stuff?

* The TS3100 has an ESS Maestro 1969 audio chipset, how well is this
supported in Linux? (I don't know what chipset the sager system has)

* I want to get a DVD-ROM drive; I know that full DVD support for Linux is
coming along slowly, but in the meantime will a DVD drive be functional in
Linux as a normal CD-ROM drives?

Thanks.
