They are simply slightly different names for same chipset.

I have an 8 MB ATI Rage Pro 3D LT and XFree86 3.3.5 works beautifully for
me. This was something they fixed in 3.3.5, so you need that version, it
won't work on anything earlier.

"LapTop" I suspect :) The "LT" version of the Rage Pro 3D is basically
the Rage Pro but reengineered to be physically smaller, use less
power/create less heat, and most importantly display to LCD and TV screens
as well as VGA displays (two of which at the same time, in fact it
supports displaying different things to each although I don't think there
is linux support for this)
Also, ATI released full specs for the Rage Pro line (which I assume
includes the LT) which means hopefully someone will write a 3D driver for
it - Quake 3 in Linux on a laptop! Wouldn't THAT be cool.
