I think we should go off line after this email, and not report this detail
on the laptop list. So from now on only reply to me.
First make sure the card works. Use it in another machine, or your machine
under windows. We wouldnt want to go through all this and find out the card
or cable is bad.
lsmod should show that the driver is loaded, and you should see it load when
you plug in the card. That is the first step. Lets take one step at a time.
1) with the card out and the machine freshly rebooted, run lsmod and note
what it says.
2) in another window run the command (as root possibly)
tail -f /var/log/messages
3) plug in the card
4) run lsmod again
>From this you should get messages about what the card services (cardmgr)
is doing when the pcmcia slot sees your card. It can either reject the card
as unrecognized, or it will load the driver. If the driver is loaded
then you will see it in the lsmod output.
Let me know what happens.

I assume you mean that they didnt modify the driver, or if it fails, they wont
take responsibility. If so, then that is not a worry.
