Hello all...
Yes...another pcmcia problem...And I am sure you have
seen it enough questions on this, so I do apologize...
That said...
I am running Redhat 6.2 2.2.14 on a compaq presario
1210. I just compiled the pcmcia 3.1.16 package into
the kernal. Which was done successfully, or w/o
incident so far. Both cards are listed as supported.
Now if I slip in either of two cards, the 3com
Megahertz LAN card, or the Xircom Realport Card, I do
hear the beep of it being insterted/extracted. Running
cardctl, I get these results-, and yes, both cards are
supported.
for the 3Com:
Socket 0:
Product info "3com", "Megahertz589E", "TP/BNC LAN PC
Card", "005"
manfid: 0x0101, 0x0589
function 6 (network)
for the Xircom Realport,
product info: "Xircom", "Creditcard Ethernet 10/100 +
Modem 56", "CEM56", "1.00"
manfid: 0x0105, 0x110(a?"
function : 2(serial)
I find the last remark interesting, why does it treat
it as a serial instead of network. And it using it the
wrong module I think.
I do know that running the pcmcia update overwrites
the network script and can cause a break. Does this
mean I should recompile the kernal?
So the pcmcia services see the cards, but if I try to
run linux config to use DHCP for either card, I just
get a "missing network device" in response.
Any help would be appreciated...I have never had luck
w/ this issue...
L
