I recall fixing a ticket about Trisquel not using the scripts the "correct" way, and since then I've been maintaining new changes.

So yes, I do have to clean the extra stuff Ubuntu adds, mainly because otherwise the compilation breaks. So, that process gets some extra hours to make sure all gets tight up.

I personally don't think Trisquel can detach easily from the upstream kernel it uses, since from it the installer pulls udebs (microdebs) required for the netinstall. Decommissioning the current workflow will very likely make it harder not only for Trisquel to clean linux trees, but other projects too.

Either way something will clearly need to get done next year when that happens, a new component that completes the missing pieces might need to be developed.
