I would like to try running XP inside of VirtualBox, but I am having difficulty visualizing the process of building the system. Please set me straight if I have this wrong.

1. Install latest Ubuntu desktop system (my favorite linux flavor).
2. Install VirtualBox (as part of step 1?).
3. Install XP.

(Apologies if this is a repeat. I thought I posted earlier, but my mail software indicates otherwise)

I did some experimenting with VritualBox, and what little I know about it I really like.

For the record, how I installed a Linux guest on a Linux host follows.

1. Install Ubuntu 9.10/64 bit desktop on the hardware.
2. Using Synaptic Package Manager, install the virtualbox-ose package.
3. Applications menu | Accessories | run VirtualBox OSE.
4. Place the Ubuntu 9.10/64 install disk in the CD drive.
5. Press the new button and proceed as per the following link.

Without step 4, the VM install fails because it can't find the media.

Side note: I haven't tried Windows 7 yet, as I've learned about the OEM Preinstallation kit and licensing for the OEM version. The end result of my research is that I won't try until I am pretty sure how to do it right the first time.
