as earlyer said comparing Linux vs windows is like comparing a fork and
a spoon.
As quite a few people do they have there boxes with both Linux/Windows i
use both because they both have there advantages over each other.
To all those people saying bad stuff about linux who are "knocking it" i
would like to say that it is i payed virtuly nothing for linux (i did
pay for a VERY good book that had linux CD's on it) and the knowlage and
vibe that comes from it is was a whole lot more satisfying than forking
out large amounts of cash to run windows 95

This is the exact same product. You get the 30 days support and all of
the commercial programs. Its just priced differently at two different
places.

None of which actually has anything to do with whether it is a valid
competitor for users.

Under US law there is no such marketshare requirement for a monopoly.
A monopoly is defined byu its ability to control a market and restrict
entry. Under US law a monopoly can exist with 0% marketshare and
having 100% doesn't make you a monopoly either.

I've not had a problem reading in any of my old WFW2.0 files. Of course,
they were just straight text, nothing fancy, no imbedded graphics or
anything.

It is just flat out a *bad* idea to rely on such things. If you
mean to specify every directory entry except . and .. , it is easy enough
to specify almost exactly that in not very much typing:
echo * .[!.]*

(this misses files ..* which are not common. * .[!.]* ..* is correct)

You will live a longer, happier life if you simply never think
in terms of .* unless you know *exactly* what you are doing.

Here's absolutely irrefutable, scientifically-verifiable evidence that
plainly demonstrates Jesus the Nazarene called the Christ to be the
One and Only Messiah of the Hebrew Old Testament(TaNaKh). I discovered
these facts through very careful, exhaustive research and deduction by
comparing extant secular-historical evidences with the testimony which
was so faithfully recorded in the ancient Hebrew Canon, which necessarily
includes BOTH Old and New Covenant Scriptures.

hi.
i have got a hauppauge wintv card (pal) and want to watch ntsc videos with it.
my videorecorder says it can handle ntsc, but on some tv's there will only
be b/w picture. this happens to me.
my question is now if that comes from hardware or if perhaps with another
driver or other software the problem can be solved.

i have debian gnu linux 2.0
kernel 2.1.131
xawtv 2.33
bttv 0.5.22 or the one that comes with xawtv
matrox mystique 220
hauppauge wintv radio with and bt878

thanks in advance,
boris

Subject: CDE telnet to linux login problem

I am trying to telnet to a redhat 4.2 box from a Solaris box running
CDE. The connection is made, but the login prompt is never displayed. If
I login from another Linux box it works fine. If I telnet from the
console (text only screen) of the Solaris box it works fine. I get the
same problem trying to telnet from an HP X-terminal running CDE to the
Linux box. Anyone know what it may be?

Subject: mother board reviews??
Date: 13 Jan 1999 08:33:41 GMT

I'm looking to buy some new components- one of which is going to be a new mb-
i'm kinda tossed up right now between a asus and a tyan- but have been unable to
find any source(s) for reviews of mother boards.. it seems as though all of the
magazines have left out reviews of the most important piece of hardware-

can any one help me find a source for reviews of mb's... i'd like to look at
others as well.

thanks.

Anybody out there with the full WP8 for linux?
I was told by the Corel representative that Win95 version of WP8 is
fully compatible with the math equations of MSWord however he did not
know about the Linux WP8 - personal version.
Can someone please confirm it for me?
The free version of WP8 unfortunately does not support equations at all.
