This is probably because you are using win9x, which encrypts the
passwords, but samba does tell you this :>
in the [global] section of the smb.conf file, you can add:
encrypt passwords = yes, then use the makesmbpasswd script to create an
encypted db of passwords.
Or you can go to
\H_KEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\VxD\VNETSUP
and make a new DWORD value called EnablePlainTextPassword, with a value
of 1.
Hope this helps

Subject: How to get sounds in Netscape?

Can anyone help?
Q. How to make sound files (.au and .wav) play from Netscape?
When I edit Preferences, Navigator, Applications I've tried setting AU
files to "cat %s >/dev/audio" and I've also tried the Xswallow plugin.
If I *directly* access an html page with an <a href="sound.au">click
here</a> in it, both options play the sound file through my speakers.
But when I access this *via Apache*, I get a dialog box asking me if I
want to "Play from Network, Save First, Cancel". If I click "Play from
Network" I get an error screen that says:
sh: playulaw: command not found
I can't find any reference to anything called "playulaw" in Netscape or
on
my system.
This is driving me batty ... I can't find any help on this in any docs.
If you know how to do this, please place my feet on the path of
enlightenment :-)

The one who does not have a habit of calling his bugs "features" and
who does not view bug fixes and patches as "upgrades" that he can sell.

Is that right: You are *not* the ISP, you are connected to it and want
to set up a local mail server?
Then you can configure relay.force9.net as smail's smarthost. The .deb
file will prompt you for this and it worked out-of-the-box for me.

Did you try http://www.rpmfind.net/linux/RPM? By the way, compiling the
source tarball isn't very hard, and it gives you the chance to compile
Apache exactly how you want it.

Date: Sat, 12 Jun 1999 02:27:36 GMT
Ok, maybe this is a newbie question but where the hell can I find Apache
1.3.6 for RedHat Linux 5.2? Everywhere I look has the RedHat 6.0 version
of the rpm and it will not install on my 5.2 box (glibc 2.0 errors)
Actually, I need the following 3 files for RedHat 5.2:
apache-1.3.6-7.i386.rpm
apache-devel-1.3.6-7.i386.rpm
freetype-devel-1.2-6.i386.rpm
Please don't tell me to download the source and compile my own files.
Not gonna happen. If I can't find RPM's I'll be forced to throw Linux
out the door (again!). Please help!
Brad.

superblock corruption can IMO only occur when (un)mounting the device,
because that should be the only time when the superblock is accessed.
However, a wild app can write to the superblock anytime with su
previleges.
There should be not latent errors once e2fsck as reported the fs as
clean. This is ext2fs we're talking about, not FAT, is that not so?

Most systems will auto-detect the filesystem type. If yours doesn't, the
"-t iso9660" would be required.

It may be helpful if one did not quote the ENTIRE XF86Config file; just the
sections that are pertinent.
