vi is nice, but if you don't like that, investigate the likes of joe and
so on.

That seems to have done the trick... with that alias snugly in .bashrc, you
think I can simply type agent and add it to the menus appropriately in my
windows manager rc?
Maybe you can help with my other problem...clear windows...
All windows within Agent (not Agent itself) are clear, no background...the
error that keeps coming up everytime a window is launched is...
err:msg:DispatchMessage16 BeginPaint not called on WM_PAINT for hwnd 15b4!
where 15b4! changes depending upon the type of window launched...maybe there
is not a specific file in the system directory?

I truly appreciate your suggestions, but I'd rather get a real workstation
keyboard like the ones that Sun, HP, DEC and the rest of them sell, and not
mess with re-mapping.

It may be a stupid question, but how can I get the xfstt true font server to run
with SuSE 5.3 ? I just don't manage it. Last time I erroneously downloaded a
RedHat version that did miss some link files. What's the correct way ? I know
what to do after install. But just the install is so hard for beginners ...

This is for LotusNotes Server. How can I get a LotusNotes client working in
Linux? Is the client being ported also (hope, hope, hope)???

have you never heard of emacs?
emacs is not just an editor, it is an Operating System.
in truth, emacs is a way of life.
emacs is big.
emacs is powerful.
emacs takes forever to load.
but once it's loaded, you don't have to load anything else.
because emacs does EVERYTHING!
use emacs.
love emacs.
be emacs.
btw, emacs is available for every *NIX platform, and even NT.
it is sure to be on your installation CD, if not on your HD already.
type 'emacs' wherever you see the $ sign.
you will not be disappointed.
you will bless the day you met emacs.
you will use vi when you have to, but in the throws of passion, you will say...
ohh emacs!!!!
and vi will crash in a huff.
HARHAR, but it is true.

i unstood that the vi implementation in Linux is actually vim. You can have a
startup file in your home directory (.vimrc or something). In it you can set up
all sorts of nice stuff (like the GUI you are talking about). There are several
web sites that people have doonated their setup file to. Just do a little
search on 'vim' and you should find something.

I have run into these problems on a k6 266, and a k6 300. In both cases
I got rid of the systems because they seemed to be too much work to fix.
When they crashed they tended to leave the mounted file systems in a bit
of disarray.
On the k6 266, disabling the internal cache did the trick. Nothing else
seemed to work. (Disabling the internal cache was done in the include/asm/bugs.h).
In this case, I had a intel pentium 233mmx installed and things have worked
famously thereafter (it cost me $ 35 CDN or so extra). Curiously the system
worked well with windoze.
On the k6 300, I just returned the system to the vendor. I suppose I should
have tried various different timings for the ram, but I lost patience. This
system had some problems with windoze.
It may be something related to cooling. Things seemed to work OK for a time
and then all hell broke loose.
On the other hand, I have a k6-2/300 which works flawlessly with linux.
: If it helps at all, I am also seeing similar paging request errors under

Maybe they (cracker-wannabe-lemming and target-lemming) are in
disagreement over
which gets to jump off the cliff with that cute little cookie of a

Cracker-wannabe probably wants to intercept the super-secret love

Setting the date just sets the system(software) clock. To keep the time
correct after rebooting, you need to set the bios(hardware) clock. Do this
with 'hwclock --systohc'

As for crossposting, get a GOOD newsreader. Mine allows me to kill the
retrieval of messages already d/ld'd in other NG's. Hence, I am never
bothered by crossposts, cuz I don't get 'em : ) If I have done any
crossposting, it is due to a default setting in my newsreader, (hmm..
I should check on that).

So I noticed. Strangely enough you still employ capital letters for
the words "I" and "Emacs". Or rather Emacs does, I guess :-)
