I've had good luck with USRobotics V.90 modem but make sure it is NOT a
WinModem , AWinmodem is Plug-and-Play only. The modem I refer to is almost
exactly the same except it uses jumpers to set IRQ and may be configured to do
the Plug-and-Play also. I got throughput of about 4000+cps and a good
connection using Zipslack and RedHat 5.2.

Hi,
I've downloaded Procinfo-16 and untarred it into my /tmp directory.
I don't know how to install it because the README files don't tell me
how to. I would know how to do it if there was a "configure" file but
all I see is a "Makefile" while the rest are source files I think. Help
appreciated. Thanx

hosts.allow

in.telnetd: 192.168.1. (replace with your subnet IP)

You will have to enable the telnet daemon.

Since the other system is a Linux system too ...
tar -cvf /dev/fd0H1440 file.tar.gz
... and ...
tar -xvf /dev/fd0H1440 on the other machine will do; no formatting
necessary here, you can just use the raw floppy.

about a week or two after installing linux(RH5.2), when I boot up, an error
comes up on hdc5(/usr).
This has happened a couple of times. Are you supposed to run fsck or sync
everytime you log in or out or something? At the moment there's only root
and one other account. Is there something Im not doing?

Wondering where the video4linux mailing list(s) are? The pointers on
various pages (eg Alan Cox' page) point to a machine that does not have

the 'jt' package is a nice LaTeX template for making jewel inserts. i

You can do it one at a time - for reference, look in /proc/interrupts,
/proc/ioports, /proc/pci, you'll get some info about each card, and it
will give you a way to monitor the changes you're making.

I have a Linux 5.2 server running on a 17.2 gig hd.
heres the trick
create a 2 or 3 meg partition and specify it's mount point as /boot
now the rest of the disk can be used for your root file system.

how does windows do it???
well, ther is a reserved spot in the file system for the system boot
files (the kernel) at the beginning of the drive

Technically, it will search the hosts.allow file first, then if no matches
are found there, it will check the hosts.deny file. So you could simply
put

ALL: LOCAL @local.domain

in the hosts.allow file -- or

ALL EXCEPT: .local.domain

in the hosts.deny file
hope this helps.
