I'd like to download Star Office 5.1 at work (T-1 connection) rather
than downloading it over my dial-up connection at home and transport it
on a Zip disk. The machine I'd use at work is a Win95 box and I'd be
loading it at home on SuSE Linux 6.0. What's the best way to do this?
Sorry if this has been answered already.

I want to mount a CD-ROM (or ISO file, or directory) that
resides on my RH Linux 6.0 server over my network and my
WIN NT 4 machine must report it as a CD-ROM.

I've posted this question on some NT newsgroups but there
were mostly brain dead people...

I think I need a NT 4 device driver who can pull this off
but I can't find one. If it's really necessary I can write
the driver (I have the NT 4 DDK stuff) but I prefer a download...

Onno.

With slrn, slrnpull is the easiest solution. You use the slrnpull command
to post outgoing and suck incoming articles, and you can use slrn to read
the news offline. It's very simple to set up and configure, and is a good
solution if there are only a handful of users (or just you) reading a
handful of groups on your machine. The disadvantage is that many (if not
most or all -- I've never tried) news clients other than slrn will not work
with this setup. But slrn is an excellent news client anyway.

Hello,
You can also use rpm2targz to make a tar ball.

Redhat is too expensive! Get SuSE.

type 'which make'. if you have it installed this will tell you where it is
on your system. If it is there you can type 'echo $PATH' to see if it is in
your path.

If you do not have it the file is make-3.whatever.i386.rpm. To install it
'rpm -ivh make3-3.whatever.i386.rpm'

good luck

This is exactly how I did it. Once you download and copy the file to
your Zip you can then mount the Zip as VFAT on your Linux box and then
cp it to your hardisk at home for install. Worked great and saved a lot
of time.
