I assure you that kdevelop has a kind of RAD (naturally only for Qt). I must say
it's hard to use, but however it exists. Try to see kdevelop home page.

How well does the 6326 work for you?

I get edges left all over the desktop if I move a terminal window and
text highlighting within the terminal window is almost random and rarely
does the whole section get highlighted.

Have you experienced this and if so can you give me any suggestions of
how to fix it?

Hi all,

I intsalled redhat 6 - KDE/gnome etc. I put a music CD in, start up the
Gnome cdplayer (GTCD), and it played like a dream. Volume was too low, so I
opened Gmix 3.0. The instant it opened, the sound stopped but the CD kept
playing. Now I can't get any CD sound, the CD player picks up the CD and
looks like its playing it, drive light is flashing, time counter counting,
but no sound. xplaycd seesm to just have a fit.

Does anyone know what is going on here??

I thought it might be within my user profile, so I created another user and
tried, but there was still no sound, so it is some global setting.

All this from opening the mixer.

Please Help

Date: Wed, 07 Jul 1999 10:00:33 GMT

When start up the machine or restart NFS server,
the "start NFS service" and "start mountd" take
more than 30 seconds and after starting up, clients
(both IBM/AIX and Linux) can't mount the exported
file directories from the server. On AIX, error's
"server xxx not responding"; Linux client reports
"mount: RPC: Timed out".

Who has the solution please send me an email. Thanks!

Not true. *If* you're willing to compromise your security (which is
probably okay on a LAN, miles from the net, but almost certainly a bad
idea when you're connecting with a modem) you can add lines such as
ttyp0, ttyp1 etc to your /etc/securetty file - that will allow root
logins on pseudo-terminals.

Hi,

I have a dual-boot system (NT & Linux) and cannot get both OSs to have
the right time. Basically, I have to set the right time every time I log
in. This is Annoying. Forget NT for the moment though, I can cope with
the wrong time in NT if I have to.

I usually set the time in linuxconf. The timezone field is *always*
blank, even though I keep setting it to GMT or GB. Is this usual? (I'm
in England, so my timezone is GMT)

At someone's suggestion, I have tried entering a time server in the
relevant field (ns0.demon.co.uk). When I booted up, my time read about
5:40AM. Changing the time in linuxconf now has no effect whatsoever!

Please tell me what's going on, pretty please. This is driving me mad
now.

Thanks,

Kev

Any competent C programmer should be able to suppress the boot messages;
it's probably not even a lot of work. For the keypress-and-graphics
thing, you'll probably need someone who knows how to rape your
customer's hardware and is willing to do it.

Speculation: Linux is saving Coordinated Universal Time in the
hardware clock, NT is saving your local time. See man hwclock for

It's not on my main system, but the only problem I recall is that I
have to say it has 4MB rather than 8MB (which is what it has) as
otherwise I get a large white square for a cursor, and the fonts don't
display.

   Since I'm running at 16-bit @ 1024x768 only using 4MB is Ok.

This is not exactly on topic, but http://www.crosswinds.net/ offers

in netscape 4.6 for linux, you can't search (alt +c) the html source of

I dunno - never took the time to learn it. But from what I have heard
about emacs, it's extremely extensible. The problem is that I dislike
'bloatware', and anything that can walk the dog, do the dishes, and edit
a file strikes me as bloatware. :-) (Oh boy, I can see the war starting
now! <G>)

I'm a 'vi' type person. When it comes to software, I believe strongly
in the KISS Principle (ie, "Keep It Simple, Stupid").

As a consequence, I doubt I will ever write a major piece of software -
but that's OK, because I accomplish what I need with my programming
skills.

Does anyone know where this header comes from? I

Are there any other packages needed?

I have no way of actually proving this in black and white, however, I also had the 56i
modem from Diamond and found it was not compatible. My extent of trouble shooting
went as far as to get a friends modem and bring it to my home to ensure that I could
get a modem working on linux at all. Of course his did (USR VEverything). The bad
news is that even though it is not a
"WinModem" and it is not listed on any "Hardware Compatiblity" HOWTOS, i do not belive
that this modem is able to be use with linux.

There is another post within either this newsgroup or on alt.os.linux.advocacy that
give more the white paper discussion about this modem and a web site on Diamond that
describes that the modem does require Windows to work properly although it is not a
winmodem.
