use these entries in your /etc/fstab file:
/dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy ext2
noauto,rw,user,exec,suid 0 0
/dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom iso9660
noauto,ro,user 0 0

to mount the floppy as a user other than root:
mount /dev/fd0

to unmount the floppy as a user other than root:
umount /mnt/floppy

to mount the cdrom as a user other than root:
mount /dev/cdrom

to unmount the floppy as a user other than root:
umount /mnt/cdrom

Hope this helps.

simple, put the call to execute "modprobe ppa" in your
/etc/rc.d/rc.sysinit script. i put mine immediately after the line
that mounts /proc because i think that's approximately when RH52 used
to detect the ZIP drive. after you add that to your startup script,
you still need to add an entry to /etc/fstab if you want to make
mounting a little easier. good luck. it all worked on my machine, a
stock installation of RH60.

There's two likely causes for this -- line interference, which would make your
modem hang itself up, or your ISP is kicking you off after too much idle time.
As per the timeout scenario, I usually keep Licq running (free ICQ clone for
linux, if you're not familiar with it) -- it'll ping Mirabilis every so often,
keeping the connection alive.

If it's line interference, then there's not a whole lot you can do about it.

If you want to track down the real cause of it, get a hold of your ISP's sysop
and have them send you the logs for the date and time you got kicked off -- it
should show whether or not you got kicked off because of line interference or
because of a timeout (or for some other reason...someone just being plain mean?
:-) )

As for the 'can't locate module ppp-compress-2x', try:

cd /usr/src/linux
make ppp-compress-21; make ppp-compress-26; make ppp-compress-24; make
modules_install

I can't say I've tried this myself, so I don't have any idea whether it will
work or not, but you can give it a shot.

Best of luck,

Matt Cole

That question cannot be answered. SGML is not one format like HTML, but a
language for defining formats like HTML. You do not specify which document
type definition your .sgml file complies with.

In general, SGML is an authoring format; it is "rendered" to a viewable
format like HTML, RTF, DVI, PS, PDF or plain text.

Try `less patch-2.2.10`. Is it binary? If so, it's still gzipped. If not,
your browser has already gunzipped it for you.

Hope that helps.

Try the following two ways , althought both of them were not perfect answer,
but it will let you run X windows. Let's hope some guru will give us a good
driver
for this video card before long .

 1) After using Xconfigurator to set it to SiS 6326 AGP,
edit (as "root") /etc/X11/XF86Config , add following two lines in
"device" section
             Option "sw_cursor"
             Option "no_bitblt"

or :

 2) edit /etc/lilo.conf (as "root" ) add VGA=xxx , where xxx refer to
following:

mode &
color | 640x480 | 800x600 | 1024x768 | 1280x1024 | 1600x1200
 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------
 256 769 771 773 775 796
32768 784 787 790 793 797
65536 785 788 791 794 798
16.8M 786 789 792 795 799

       lilo.conf :
         .....
         label=linux
         root=/dev/hda2
         VGA=788          <--------     new added line
         .....
then "lilo -v -v " to reinstall lilo

        reboot linux by "reboot"
If you see the color penguin on the left upper corner on your
screen, you are lucky, the kernel got your video card. Otherwise .....

next, get the XFB86_FBDev server from the RedHat CD , it should be
located in /RedHat/RPMS/
install it by " rpm -Uhv XFree86-FBDev-3.3.3.1-*.i386.rpm"

now, we have to edit /etc/X11/XF86Config, locate the first "Screen"section,
     change it to :
           Section "Screen"
           Driver "FBDev"
Device "My Video Card" <--------name can be any thing
Monitor "My Monitor" <--------name can be any thing
           Subsection "Display"
Mode "default" <-------- it has to be "default"
           EndSubsection
           EndSection

  then, "ln -fs /usr/X11R6/bin/XF86_FBDev /etc/X11/X"

finally , run "startx", your should be able to see the X window
running. If not , well .....

          Good luck !!

I just checked "http://www.unix-systems.org/", and it appears that
readv/writev are a part of "The Single UNIX Specification" and "The
Unix 98 Specification". This is still not quite as portable or
widespread as POSIX, but it's a hell of a lot better than "I noticed
lots of systems support this".
