I just installed the 2.2.11 and 2.2.12 patch. When I compile it I get the
following errors:

make[3]: Entering directory '/usr/src/linux-2.2.2.SuSe/drivers/char'
make[3]: *** No rule to make target 'pc_keyb.h', needed by 'pc_keyb.o'.

Anyone have any ideas?

I guess you are talking about <7qe23n$mjo$[EMAIL PROTECTED]>. That
was dated this morning, not yesterday. I advise more patience.

The "cat" command should be in /bin. Do you have that file? If so,
can you run it? (It just copies the input to the standard output.
You can end the input, if you're just typing it in, by entering
control-D at the beginning of a line.) If you can, has your PATH
somehow been mangled so that /bin is not in it?

If you do not have it, then something else on your system has been
mangled.

Is there something that you have done that could do this sort of
system damage?

Hi,
I am beginning to program modules under Linux (version 2.0.36). I would
like to know some pointers to information on the scheduling implimentation

Mine is. At least, one of them definitely is, since I installed

it was (I do have about 8 - 10 Win95 CDROM sets laying around) .

I must agree with Cameron.

All of the AMD products I have used, can handle extreme temperatures.
For about a year I ran a K6-2 133 with NO cpu fan and NO box cover. I
never had a prob. I very rearly have the box cover on.

I had a problem with an AMD K6-2 450, related to heat. The Heat
Sink/Fan I had wasn't big enough. I bought a new one that was listed on
www.amd.com for the 450's, and all my problems went away. The problems
were: intermitant freezing, sig 11 while compiling the kernal, and hard
lock-ups playing MP3's.

I have an AMD 386, and it dosen't need a fan...

Actually the sound works good on Linux with the proper driver.
The 4Front drivers work well and it is only $20 or you can get
a free version for ISA cards with SuSE.

One thing that annoyed me with Alsa was the note to the effect that
there was core dumps if you try to run quake. Who knows what else
core dumps. Someday they'll get it fixed but until then we have
nothing unless we get the 4-Front software.

The biggest difference is probably that Sun expects that if you use

I am currently running the 2.2.12 kernel under Slackware 4.0 and my
machine locks up whenever I try to switch between virtual terminals at
the console. I have tried removing video related options from the
kernel (such as frame buffer device support), but I've had no luck
resolving the problem. I get lockups with the 2.2.12 kernel (with and
without SMP support), 2.2.6 and 2.2.10. Those are the three I've
been using. I installed with the 2.2.10 kernel on a boot disk and had
no problems. But using that same disk, I get lockups (maybe it was
just luck before). Here's a description of my machine: Epox KP6-BS
Dual motherboard, 2 PII400 cpu's, 128MB RAM, ATI Rage Fury, SB Live,
Linksys 10/100 (LNE100TX ver.2, with new tulip driver), Aopen DVD,
and my hard drive is partitioned with 2 GB /, 4 GB /usr, 500MB Swap.

I get the complete system lockup if I try to switch terminals
regardless if I'm just logged in or if I've logged in 2 hours previously. I am not
running X yet.

It is so cool to see Lotus Notes and other office suites work
flawlessly within the win95 box in Linux VMware. So far it is stable
and boots fast after a two-day trial. The speed penalty is
noticeable, but tolerable. Basically, you have to build up win95 from
scratch within Linux. The 3-com 905B network card worked fine, but was
loaded with a strange driver I have never seen when in stand-alone
win95 mode. The pnp did not seem to work in VMWare. Could someone
comment on it ? The win95 audio and modem driver did not work after
being manually loaded. The only video driver which works is the
standard VGA. The SVGA driver downloaded from VMWare website can be
loaded, but win95 complains conflicts when higher resolution is being
used in SVGA (original video driver did not work due to hardware
conflicts). Does anyone have better luck to get audio and modem
driver to work ? and How does VM share device with Linux (or they
don't) ?

The entry in /etc/fstab must read vfat as filetype, not msdos.
That should solve your problems, it did mine. If it doesn't, plz provide the
contents
of the file in question /etc/fstab for diagnostics.
(equiv to mount -t vfat /dev/hda1 /win98 on my machine, try man mount for

Actually wvdial under SuSE 6.2 supports internet connections for morons.
I still prefer to enter the DNS numbers myself for quicker connections
but there you have it, it now finds the DNS numbers for you if you
don't have the intellect to type a few lines or have an idiot at your
ISP who doesn't know what a DNS number is and say that Linux isn't
supported.

Kevin,

Install lsof if you haven't already done so (If you don't know where
to get it, do a search for it at http://news.freshmeat.net). Then issue
the command, "lsof -i". Look for this line:

lpd 75 root 5u inet 57 TCP *:printer (LISTEN)

If you don't have it, then it means "lpd" isn't listening on port 515.
Kill it and restart it with this command:

/usr/sbin/lpd 515

Now, try printing from your DGUX machine. Good luck!

It's been a while (about two years) since I did this but . . .

You will need to create your Linux partitions in Warp. Then Run Linux fdisk
and rename them to types 82 and 83 respectively. If you create the
partitions in Linux IBM BM has a hard time seeing the Linux partitions.
After that, install Linux. Put LILO on the Linux partition (NOT in the
MBR!). Run Warp's fdisk and add the partition that has LILO on it to you
boot mgr. Reboot.

Good luck. I hope my memory hasn't failed you. If so drop me an email
because I plan to install Linux from scratch next week and add it to my IBM
BM. I will then be able to tell you what I really did.

Dave.

Why all this bullshit. From what I can see your problem is Oracle and
not RedHat. RedHat much like SuSE use glibc2.1 and Oracle has problems
with that. Bitch at Oracle, not RedHat.
