    Hello !

Does anyone install 2 mouses in a same system ?
I mean i have one wireless keyboard with a mice on this keyboard and i have
also
one USB Keyboard and one serial mouse. So i want to plug all these devices
in my computer under Mandrake 70. I try to define 2 " Pointer " Section in
XF86Config ( for 2 mouses ) but it didn't work . Anyone has some genius
ideas to make all these devices work ?

    Thanks !

Hmm. The CPU time on the PIII is less (as it should be), so it
would seem that the problem lies in the disk reading and writing. How
is the disk performance on the PIII box in general? My first guess
would be that you've got strangeness going on in your SCSI chain.
Check /var/log/messages -- anything strange?

Isn't there a browser for linux which DOES work? I work with netscape...
Just like windows, keeps crashing all the time!

Nope. I can't find anything there. I think I may be beginning to have a
hardware problem because my PIII box has actually crashed a few times in
the last week. Previous to that, it has *never* crashed (I've had it for
about a year). I have another PIII SMP machine in the department where I
work. Maybe I will try that and see how that does. I think I will also
have a look at my kernel setup.

Thanks.

I have DL'ed the xaudio console MP3 player and it works well in RH 6.1.
However I can only use it as root (SU). When im logged in under my username
trif (local or telnet from the computer next to it (too lazy to shift seats
sometimes to turn a song on) it won'd let me, it says permission denyed. Is
this some kind a user permissions problem??

this is the ls -l readout on the program in /usr/bin

-rwxrwxr-x 1 root root 170344 Apr 28 1999 xaudio

don't ask about the date, computer changes the date every boot, i havn't a
clue about that.

Rebuilding the kernel doesn't take longer than 30 minutes on a slow
computer. You *have* to rebuild the kernel to make use of the SMP
support.

As far as I know, SMP support isn't something that the distribution
supplies, the SMP stuff lies in the kernel (and several different
distributions may very well ship with the same kernel).

Read the mount man pages, under FAT file systems for the required entries
in the /etc/fstab file to do, works just fine.

AFAIR this was designed for on-the-fly-compresssion tasks.

cdfs is the win32 version of mscdex.exe, basically. It's a protected mode
driver that 'converts' ISO9660 to a computer readable file system.
The format of the CD itself should be ISO9660.
It should work fine - in otherwords, just try mounting it as you normally
would, unless you burnt it with some really funky options.

Okay, peecee with 1.44M 3.5" and 1.2M 5.25" floppies, set up as such
in the BIOS. I can mount 1.44M 3.5" and 1.2M 5.25" DOS-formatted
floppies, no problem. I cannot mount 720K 3.5" floppies (aka Atari
disks) or 360K 5.25" floppies. My guess is, Linux sees these drives
at boot up per the BIOS as the give size, and doesn't know what do
do with lower density media, even though DOS obviously has no problems.
The mount man page gives no clue.

I had the same trouble. My original solution: my BIOS allows me to format an
IDE drive! ('486 AMI BIOS from '95)

But I believe the Lilo README file addresses this. Apparently, you need to
wipe out the existing MBR with dd before DOS FDISK/FORMAT will properly
deal with it.

Look at your start-up options to postmaster to be sure they are
the same. If the K6-2 has turned off the 'disk sync on commit'
option, those might be reasonable times. The elapsed time that
isn't counted as system or user is probably waiting for disk seeks
to complete. Also you might want to wrap your inital table load
in a single transaction (or several large ones) if it is currently
doing a commit on every insert.

Later, when I reconfigured it and installed with standard prefix (/usr/local),
everything was ok.

I think that the default paths to icons, images and tiles aren't touched by
prefix when installing to different directory. How this paths can be set to

Check your startup scripts. Most distributions regenerate issue and issue.net
at every reboot.

It's not a random surface pattern, but a random surface pattern of light and
dark spaces seperated by edges.

You have to look at the entire sentance, not just one fragment.

For security you might want to check out proftpd.

I've been trying to install Apache, and it requires the installation of
GCC C++. I can't get the GCC C++ installed. There doesn't seem to be an
informative document for non Programmers. Any quick and dirty cheat sheets
would be helpful.

In the "options {}" section of your named.conf file, you can add a line
of the form

        listen-on { 127.0.0.1; 192.168.1.1; };

to indicate which interfaces to use.

You're absolutely right. The Netscape use crashing when nobody excepts it...
When I have 10 Netscape windows on desktop, in don't crash, but when I just use
one or two Netscape windows, it crash...

I'm looking for some WORKING browser all the time, I moved to Linux from
Windows... Mozzilla 14/Netscape 6 ain't still the solution - it still lacks
some necessary functions...

All userer space filesystems, I have seen, were using NFS to let the
kernel mount them. So you probably would need NFS-Client-Support in
the kernel, anyway.
