So most likely you:
1. Only have one CPU
or
2. Not running an SMP kernel

I too am trying to setup "annoymous" ftp access on my system but without
success. The problem
is I just do not get the line that says "Guest login ok..." after entering
"annoymous" to the user
name prompt. Do I need to setup a login account "guest"? If yes, then what
should it look like in the "/etc/passwd" file?
Any help would be much appreciated.

Uhm, we use TERM=vt220 ...
Question is which one of both solutions is better/the right one... ?

Although I haven't seen one in action, I believe it can be done. In
fact, it's one of the options offered in the Slackware Linux install
(Slackware Linux 3.0 through 7.0).
/ could be on CDROM, but /tmp would have to be a ramdisk or other
writable media. Other writable directories would also have to be
hosted on ramdisk or writable media (i.e. /home, /root, etc.).

Check to see if it is installed and by which package.
rpm -qf /usr/X11R6/bin/xmkmf
Or to see if it is installed and where it is try:
whereis xmkmf

No idea of why, but get and install chrony, and ntp daemon which will

Hello,
I need to set up a ramdisk (/dev/ram0, etc) for 16MB, but I can only get a max
of 4MB. (kernel 2.2.14).
Does anyone know what I have to change??

Since you're looking at binaries, they are already compiled and linked,
which means you need to match both machine language and OS hooks. If
you have an Intel or Intel-like CPU, there's no hope; if a Power PC, (3)
is your only hope (but not a good one); if a SPARC, try (7); etc., etc.
