Yes. Look at /etc/inittab and find out what boot level
is the default. The line will look something like:
id:3:initdefault:
Then make sure that you have the symlinks set up in that
directory.

plays video and I get sound - seems to work fine.
My only problem is that I am not able to call it from

I feel much safer knowing that some people are fighting to
prevent others from posting questions about evil programs.
Maybe we could make the usenet (and the rest of the Internet)
safe for the children! If only we could close-up software,
and suppress programming knowledge: then the world would
finally be safe, and computer operating systems would be
secure! Dangerous knowledge such as the "ping" man page
could be eliminated (reference "-f" parameter). When will
this OPEN madness stop!?!
Oh no! I accidently posted dangerous DoS information
about the ping command. Oh gosh! Now I will probably
lose my account for spreading dangerous information about
the existance of manual pages! That Internet thingy
must be censured before it destroys us all.
It is a good thing that I did not mention that cracking
tools can be found with any search engine using the search
term "warez". DAMN! I did it again! I have to pull the
plug before I do any more damage.

I have been using Linux and other unixes (unices) for more years than I
care to remember, but one thing has
me stumped on a m/c which dual boots windoze and Linux is getting the TZ
variable right so that windoze doesn't end up confusing it.
My understanding is that windoze actually adjusts the clock for a DST
transition, whereas Unix changes the rtc offset.
I am convinced that there ought to be a combination of settings of TZ
and windoze DST adjustments, to ensure, that the machine shows the
correct time in either environment.
I am in a GMT/BST timezone.
Can anybody help please?

Partially. It's only allowed by the kernel for suid-aware shells.
Other UN*Xes do allow this for all kind of shell scripts, but
it is a very bad idea to begin with (for obvious security reasons).

Yes, I noticed. What's your point?
Did you notice the little GNU sticker on the DoS attack code?
Neither did I. So it's not about open source...
Code posted to Usenet forums (or accessed in other manners using the
internet) are not open source nor public domain unless that is clearly
stated. Did you know that? Did you know that comp.os.linux.misc is no
warez forum?
Judging from the posts in this forum I find it hard to believe that
many people have ever read the ping(8) manual page. And judging from
your post, I find it hard to believe that you read enough of the
source of the packet storm program in the original post to see the
differences between it and and the ping command.
System administrators, which I consider anyone that says "my server"
to be, should know better.
Calling me an idiot was just plain stupid.

Yes, the 23M means 23 megs. I originally had 16M but Red Hat gives it an

You don't develop a game API just to "kill Microsoft". You do it to
write games.
Go to <URL:http://freshmeat.net/> and search for "game API" and "game
SDK", then go to <URL:http://sourceforge.net/> and search for "game
API". You'll find lots,.
To "kill Microsoft", write stable, cheap and user friendly
