Hey, I use Red Hat 6.2, Kernel 2.2.15. When trying to mount my floppy I get
a error saying "Error mounting floppy major or minor bad numbers". I was
thinking of recompiling the kernel, but I wanted a few suggestions first.
So can you please instead e-mail the answer if you know.

                                 Thanks.

They normally ship with these things turned off for security reasons

You can run NT as just another application using a few products out there.
The one I am most familiar with is VMware. VMware is not, strictly
speaking, emulation software. Its more virtual machine technology. You can
run probably 10 different "guest systems" including 95, 98, NT, a bunch of
linux variants, and others.

Check out www.vmware.com. Be aware you need some horsepower. I have about
3 different guest OS'es. I am running these
on a Dell Precision Workstation 610 with twin Pentium III 550s, a Diamond
Viper 770d and a lot of fast scsi real estate. The base OS is debian linux
slinkato with a 2.2.16 kernel.

I can't tell from your message headers, but I'd guess that you are using
a French-layout keyboard - where you must use SHIFT to type a number,
and the symbols are un-shifted.

These kinds of keyboards present problems for a lot of applications.
Many applications expect the SHIFT key to be depressed in order to
recognize symbols.

File a bug report with Forte. Be sure to mention what kind of keyboard
you have, and exactly how you have X configured to use this keyboard.
(They won't be able to fix the problem if they can't reproduce it.)

I get very good results with a geforce 256 ddr (Xfree 4.0.1 and the lates=

quake3 runs fine in 800x600, 1024x768 is playable if there are not to muc=

Performence of nvidia drivers depends a lot on the chipset of the mainboa=

cause not for every chipset agp-transfer is supported. Otherwise, they ar=

at version 0.95, and since 0.91 this driver gets faster and faster, with =

new realease nearly every month.

Since the driver is not open-source, you may prefere a 3dfx-Card,
have a look at http://www.linux3d.org and http://www.mesa3d.org for more=20
information.

both menuconfig and xconfig provide pretty good help. check the help
for the items you are unsure about, and it gives you a pretty good
description of what the feature is for, plus a recommendation what to
pick in normal situations

>Where can I find a premade .config file that assures me

won'y do you much good since you want to patch the kernel. most
crypto patches add new options which you will have to decide on in the
configuration step. also, most people who rebuild the kernel tailor
it for your machine, and they might differ greatly from yours.

in my exoerience, after having put in the hd, you must make sure that

i am not aware of a cobol for linux, though as far as I know sco
software can run under linux if you include ibcs support (?, something
like "intel binary compatibilty") in the kernel, though some
restrictions apply (I think you are pretty much on your own if the
apps use sco specific system calls)

However, when I boot to the CD (or floppy) I first get the entry screen

Then I press <enter> to do an install...the system goes through its image

Here is the output (that can be viewed)

Set the maximum mail size in sendmail. Hmm .. if that's only for
sending, you'll have to make the local delivery agent procmail
and give it a global procmailrc that sorts by size on whether

(yes, I know, deliver is more flexible).
