In addition to R.Jone's and P.Colquhoun's suggestion, ensure you source
in the proper environment. Cron typically runs with a very small initial
environment. I'm not sure of mysql; however, if it's anything like
Oracle, you need a number of enviornment variables set to ensure proper
access. Those env vars are set when you're running it from the command
line; they're not set when kicked off via cron.

Upgrade to at *least* these software revisions before thinking you've
encountered a bug! If you're unsure what version you're currently
running, the suggested command should tell you.
Again, keep in mind that this list assumes you are already
functionally running a Linux 2.2 kernel. Also, not all tools are
necessary on all systems; obviously, if you don't have any PCMCIA (PC
Card) hardware, for example, you probably needn't concern yourself
with pcmcia-cs.

Does anyone know how I can get my linux distro to work with my Hotrod
UDMA/raid controller? I can't install the Redhat 7.0 distro because the
install program says it cannot find any partitions to install on. Mandrake
7.2 is installed right now, but my partitions are not recognized correctly
during the installatioin process. I have managed however to install the
disto on my pc. I can only boot from a floppy however. I tried installing
lilo but that didn't work. I executed /etc/lilo, and got no error messages.
He added al the options normally. When i rebooted however, all i get is "LI"
instead of "LILO".
My setup consists of a Abit VP6 mobo, with integrated HotRod IDE UDMA/ raid
controller. I have two disks of 14,3 Gb configured in raid 1. My disks
appear as "/dev/hde" and "/dev/hdg" under linux fdisk. This is ok I guess.
There are no drives attached to my normal IDE connectors so hda, hdb, hdc, hdd
are not used. My drives are connected to the raid controller, on a different
connector, so both as master drives. So, hde and hdg seem ok to me. I have
created a linux partition of 4Gb at the beginning of my drives, plus one
swap partition of 250Mb.
Do i have to recompile my kernel for RAID support or something? I have to
recompile anyway, because my kernel is not compiled for my dual cpu setup
anyway.
Any suggestions?

Who cares about politics or government?
As far as I'm concerned most of the world
governments impose high taxes and do much
more than they should do "for the people".
Everything except law enforcement and the military
should be privatized and out of government
hands. Then maybe things will get better.
Science and technology really doesn't "belong"
to one country or another, to suggest otherwise
is rather silly. The perceived inequities
of today can be really fleeting. All it takes
is a few key employees to move from one country
to another and to setup a corporation and, bang,
the balance of power has changed.

Hi!
For various reasons, I had to write a program in Turbo Pascal 7.0.
I want this program to run on linux. Is there a way?
I didn't use any of the units Turbo Pascal comes with, but I did use
objects.

Define "correct", especially as far as web page layout is
concerned.

The main problem with the original question "no WYSIWYG editor
for HTML" is the fact that HTML itself simply isn't WYSIWYG-capable
(not to mention the doubtable meaning of WYSIWYG, anyways).
There presently is nothing that produces even being half-way WYSIWYG
HTML out there - because it doesn't exist. HTML is "hypertext
markup language" - and that's it. There are so many different
interpretations of the de-facto-W3C standard, that it is nowadays
virtually impossible to claim that any editor was capable of
producing HTML-output that would exactly work the way the designer
meant it to be.
The closest you could get is a compatible GIF with image-maps.

Upon closer examination, powstatd isn't that easy to bend. :-( It appears
that it uses PFM (or lib functions) to signal init which, in turn, runs the
appropriate script. From /etc/inittab:
# UPS signals a power outage.
pf:12345:powerfail:/sbin/powstatd.fail
# UPS signals power restored before the shutdown kicks in.
pr:12345:powerokwait:/sbin/powstatd.ok
# UPS signals low battery power: emergency shutdown.
pn:12345:powerfailnow:/sbin/powstatd.low
The scripts then schedule or cancel a shutdown or shut off the UPS,
respectively.
Of course, I could hardware OR the contact closure I plan to use with the
power fail signal from the UPS and modify the powstatd.fail script as needed
and *probably* cause no harm because the added input would *probably* go
inactive before the 5 minute timeout period expired. I had hoped a more
elegant solution was available but hey, beggars can't be choosers!
Before I get too carried away on modifying stuff, I've gotta get my tape
backup problem resolved. But that's a whole 'nother matter.
Thanks for your reply!

Since I did some experiments with the installation of KDE 2.0.1 (which
all failed) kpanel refuses work. It runs and that's hardly all. If I try
to launch any Application it happens simply nothing. I already have
reinstalled and uninstalled and reinstalled again the whole KDE . Any
ideas?

I have experienced an identical problem with Partition Magic 5.0. Adding
two partition before my /dev/hda8 results in a changed fstab. /dev/hda8
becomes /dev/hda10.
Removing the paritions results in /dev/hd19
So if it is PM which causes the problem, it is not solved in 5.0, maybe in
6.0

Thanks a lot Markku. Your tip is a light in the tunnel for Im really going
nuts of this problem. Considering i get this update, how do i patch this to
my RH7? Im just a newbie learning my way to Linux and Unix commands,
mounting, moving around the shell and new stuffs like that. Still reading,
reading and reading when i get the chance ..... Is running update similar to
"run" command in windows?
I re-installed RH7 again selecting custom in monitor/video section expecting
the prob to go away. Nope, still there. I can play around in Gnome but not
for long. When the corruption gets out of hand have to wait for screensaver
to kickin to "refresh" the screen. Then i log out.
TIA

Is this statement accurate?
If so - great, put a usable front-end on Amaya, and you have a graphical web
page design tool that outputs HTML
