Because it is for people interested in running "ms"-dos applications under
linux. I woiuld suggest that many people DO use their actual installation
of DOS, rather than DOS/C

Who knows - maybe you should ask that on the FREEDOS mailing list - not
this one.

Of course, you could also get your facts CORRECT. Caldera DO NOT offer
DR-DOS for free - PERIOD. You can download a version and TRY IT for 90
days. AFTER this you are REQUIRED to purchase a copy if you plan to
continue using it. The cost is 29USD.[1]

[1] We used to have contact with some people at Caldera, and even hoped
that they WOULD make DR-DOS free, as they originally claimed to be doing.
However, the current license is NOT free.
