I intend to set up a medium network (more than 50 computers) on
thin ethernet. For that purpose, and due to phisical placement i created 9
phisical subnetworks which i intend to connect by using linux boxes set up
like BRouters. The BRouters (2 or 3, depending on the number of NICs of
each ) will be connected on a backbone with the server which provides the
Internet connection by the means of an ADSL modem.
I want to know what type of machine will do the task of bridging-routing
I intend to use 386,486 with 4 or 5 NICs, 4M RAM, and floppy drive only to
boot a linux boot/root disk which will provide the kernel with the
routing.
Is this configuration going to be enough.
I expect medium trafic (al least 8 computers active at one moment)
Any ideea would help.
Thanks,
Cracu
