Either way. The weird thing is that name service appears to be working, so SOME
packets come back. But pings always time out with no response. And I can't get to

/etc/resolv.conf does contain the correct IP addresses for primary and secondary name
servers.

No firewalling at all. /var/log/messages shows successful login (and later,
successful hangup).
I used the Kppp GUI to configure the link. Does Kppp leave a configuration file
somewhere, so I can post it to the list?
What else should I be posting that will help diagnose the problem? This is very
frustrating.
