My 2 cents. In my experience, kppp has bugs. It works for many, but not
for me; kppp establishes a good connection, fails to recognize it and
hangs up. I've used the standard ppp-on/off scripts, XISP, linuxconf, and
Red Hat utilities successfully on the same system, same settings. Don't
discount software bugs.
Kppp has a config file, but I don't have my (former) kppp system handy
now. Check your home directory, then the .kde subdirectory with 'ls -la'
and snoop around for .kpppconfig, .kppprc, or the like.
You might try another method of establishing your PPP connection, though
revisit the following issues first:
Is PPP defined as your defaultroute? (sounds OK, though)
Is your network gateway address properly configured?
