Alan (and list),

"minicom" produces the same result. I'm able to dial in
and get a login prompt but, after entering the correct
Username and Password I get "Invalid Username/Password".

By the way, when I configure my Windows box to open a
terminal upon connection, the same problem occurs. Without
opening a terminal upon successful connection, Windows
logs-in just fine; after which I'm able to run Browsers,
Mailers etc.

In the Linux/Unix paradigm, one generally logs into the
server then, while that connection is established, various
client tasks (Browsers etc) communicate with their peers
over PPP. It seems that my Prodigy ISP does not allow this.
Rather, upon connection, some hidden negotiations take place
(via, PPP ???) that forgoes the standard login procedure.

Regards

Ray
